Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Ongoing rivalry between students’ unions manifested itself in a group clash at DAV College in Sector 10 here. At least two students were injured after shots were fired, the police said.

The clash took place between activists of the Students’ Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) and Students’ Organisation of India (SOI).

Three shots fired

According to the police, three shots were allegedly fired by an SOI activist. While one shot was fired in the air, the other two were random, they added.

Both the injured students were rushed to General Hospital where they were stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the police have stepped up security inside the main Panjab University campus and the colleges in view of the ensuing students’ union elections.
