Sensex gains 153 points
MUMBAI: The stock markets continued their upward journey for the second consecutive day and the benchmark Sensex retraced the 15000-level with a jump of 153 points on the back of robust gains in banking and engineering stocks.
The Bombay Stock Exchange’s 30-share index settled at 15138.40, representing a gain of one per cent or 152.70 points over its previous close of 14985.70.
Brokers said that quick recovery has raised hopes about foreign institutional investors (FIIs) covering short positions next week, after remaining net sellers for the past few days. The Sensex touched an intraday high of 15235.51 and a low of 15061.13 in Friday’s session. — PTI
