NALGONDA: Hundreds of students under the aegis of the Students Federation of India (SFI) tried to lay siege to the Collectorate office with a charter of demands here on Friday. Police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them. While the SFI State president Kalluri Mallesham alleged that the police arrested about 100 students, the town inspector Vijaya Paul clarified that no arrest was made. Injured
Mr.Mallesham said that the police resorted to lathicharge indiscriminately on the agitating students. He said that five activists were injured in the lathicharge. The students demanded that the Government increase the mess charges and construct buildings for hostels. Pending demands
They also raised slogans against the State Government “for neglecting the long pending demands of the students.” A good number of students staged a rastaroko at the DEO office when the police tok SFI leaders into their custody. Later students again staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate. They handed over a memorandum to the district revenue officer with 18 demands.
