42 students hospitalised due to food poisoning
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: Some 60 students of NTR Model residential school at Himayatsagar in Moinabad fell sick reportedly after dinner served in their hostel on Thursday.
While some of them recovered soon, 42 were admitted to Sai Ram Hospital at Langer Houz on Friday morning. Doctors said all the students were out of danger. The Cyberabad police registered a case under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act.
There were about 468 students in the school’s hostel and all of them had their supper as usual around 8 p.m. on Thursday. Some complained of abdominal pain and giddiness at midnight. A few students reportedly also vomited, Narsingi CI K. Rambhupal Rao said.
The school management shifted four students to a private hospital in Moinabad. They were brought back to hostel in the early hours of Friday after treatment. By then, other students started complaining of similar problems and were rushed to Sairam hospital. The school is run by NTR Trust. Police collected food samples and sent them to the FSL.
