Fatmi rescued from Bagmati river

Darbhanga: Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development M.A.A. Fatmi on Thursday had a close shave when the engine of a motorboat ferrying him failed and the vessel was swept downstream by the Bagmati in full spate.

Mr. Fatmi, who is the local MP, had come to review the flood situation in the district and was rescued by some victims of the deluge. “God only knows what would have happened had these people not come to my rescue... Thank God, I am safe,” a shaken Mr. Fatmi told PTI over phone. — PTI
