Eco-friendly products at Khadi fair

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Khadi and Village Industries Fair organised by the Kerala Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi at Thycaud here in connection with the Onam festival season features an array of eco-friendly products. The exhibition and sale, at Gandhi Bhavan, is attracting city residents in hordes.

The textile products exhibited at the fair include cotton khadi, muslin khadi, Bengal muslin, bed sheets, khadi silk saris, shirts in khadi silk and spunsilk, churidars and T-shirts and the Swaraj brand of eco-friendly shirts promoted by the Khadi and Village Industries Corporation.

Mattresses and pillows made of natural cotton and a range of colourful carpets have turned out to be good crowd-pullers. Handicrafts made of fibre, brass and paper pulp, coir footmats, gingelly oil made in traditional oil mills, are other attractions.
