NEW DELHI: Two brothers allegedly involved in abduction of a driver at Mansarovar Park here and his murder at Agra last May have been arrested by the North-East Delhi police. On May 30, the police received a complaint from Rakesh alleging that his brother Sanjay, a taxi service provider and a driver, had gone missing. He told the police that Sanjay’s car was hired by one Manish Dixit for a trip to Gwalior through AVN Tour and Travels on May 24. Sanjay was supposed to return within two days, but he never did. Reward announced
On the basis of the complaint and initial inquiry, the police registered a case of abduction and launched a hunt for Manish. Investigations revealed that Sanjay’s mobile phone was being used by Manish’s brother Devesh. A reward of Rs. 10,000 was also declared on the accused. Police teams were despatched to various places in Uttar Pradesh in search of Sanjay and his abductors. Acting on a tip-off that Manish would come to Etawah railway station, the police laid a trap and arrested him. During interrogation, he purportedly disclosed that he along with his accomplice Pushpender hired Sanjay’s car and then strangled him at Agra. They and their accomplice then allegedly dumped the body in the Yamuna and fled with the vehicle and Sanjay’s belongings, including his mobile phone. The police have also arrested Devesh and are trying to recover the vehicle.
