Water released for irrigation

Hosur: Water was released from the Kelavarapalli dam near here for irrigation on Saturday. District Collector Santhosh Babu opened the sluice gates following a directive from Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. Members of the Legislative Assembly showered petals on the canal to mark the inauguration.

Mr. Babu said that water would be released from the dam for a period of 133 days benefiting 8,000 acres.

Water would be released for four days a week based on the water level in the dam and on the monsoon. The panchayats of Boodinatham, Bethamuthali, Muthali, Attur, Kadirepalli, Marachandiram, Kothur, Moranapalli, Thorapalli, Thrichipalli, Kamanthotti, Thinnur, Subagiri, Koneripalli, Chinnakollu, Bethakollu, Samanapalli, Chennathur, Attakurikki, Nallakanakothapalli, Marthandapalli would benefit through the release.
