Navy mutineers seek pension

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Royal Indian Navy Mutineers’ Association has complained that the Central Government was yet to sanction Kendra Swathanthratha Sainik Samman Pension to them despite a favourable High Court verdict. Association spokesman M. Venugopal Sodar said that the about 70 members of the Association had forwarded applications to the Centre as per the directives of the Court early this year. But the Centre was yet to act on it. The mutiny, which took place in February 1946, had been recognised in 1972 as part of freedom struggle. —Special Correspondent
