Venkatesh scalps four

TIRUCHI: Skipper R. Venkatesh took four for seven as Tiruchi defeated Dharmapuri by eight wickets in a league encounter of the TNCA under-13 inter-district cricket tournament here on Saturday.

The scores: Dharmapuri 75 in 32.4 overs (R. Venkatesh four for seven) lost to Tiruchi 76 for two in 17.3 overs. Tuticorin 118 for nine in 50 overs (K. Victor Abeshai 40 not out, G. Srivaigunth three for 22) bt Ramanathapuram 91 in 30.4 overs (M. Uthis Gnanamoorthy four for 24, S. Mohammed Haneef three for eight).

Amirthalingam advances

Top seed S. Amirthalingam (TRC) defeated Subramanian (RI GOC) 25-0, 7-17, 25-5 and entered the senior section quarterfinals of the district-level carrom tournament, conducted by the Southern Railway Institute, here on Saturday.
