NEW DELHI: A special court here on Saturday issued a non-bailable warrant against multi-crore land scam accused Ashok Malhotra following a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The investigating agency has charged Malhotra with grabbing plots meant for slum dwellers and having them allotted to private parties using fraudulent means and then selling them away at exorbitant rates. Issuing the warrant, Special Judge S. K. Kaushik asked the CBI to produce Malhotra before him on or before August 14. The CBI had conducted raids at the residence and offices of Malhotra but had not been able to arrest him. It claimed to have recovered truckloads of documents pertaining to the alleged fraudulent transactions during these raids. Five officials of the Delhi Development Authority have also been named in the FIR. Malhotra has been booked under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code and under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
