28 more nursing homes sealed in Cuttack district

CUTTACK: Out of 26 registered Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) centres in Cuttack district, 25 have so far been sealed as they failed to keep their records straight.

Some 67 private nursing homes, diagnostic centres, ultrasound clinics and MTP centres in Cuttack district have so far been closed. On Saturday, 28 nursing homes, 14 ultrasound clinics and 25 MTP centres were sealed, said Chief District Medical Officer S.N. Das.

Most of them were sealed either due to lack of maintenance of records or are functioning without pollution control certificate. The raids would continue next week too, Mr. Das said.

Over 200 nursing homes and 150 diagnostic centres were currently functioning in the district. Four teams, comprising two doctors, were conducting the inspections, he said.
