Saraswathi
ANANTAPUR: In a shocking revelation which came to light after about 20 years of ordeal for a woman, who happens to be the wife of a doctor serving in the General Hospital here, Saraswathi (43), complained of cruelty from her husband for the last 20 years and alleged that he was injecting anaesthesia regularly to her after confining her to a room. The woman escaped from the ‘confinement’ in her house with the help of neighbours in the Andhra Bank Colony here on Friday and reached the women’s police station with a bruised body due to regular dose of anaesthesia and lodged a complaint against her husband B. Srinivasulu, alleging cruelty, torture and harassment. She was married to Dr. Srinivasulu in 1985 and he had started torturing her from 1987, Ms. Saraswathi alleged in her complaint. He would inject her anaesthesia for any health problem or arguments between the couple or for any other row. He would not allow her to meet neighbours and also denied visits to her parents or vice versa. The police registered a case under Section 498-A of the IPC and sent her for medical aid.
