Rain attributed to cloud-seeding in Telangana
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Cloud-seeding operations over Telangana districts have led to rain, with indications becoming “very visible” over Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts, according to the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences and Weather Modification Technologies (CASWMMT) of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here.
A press release said eight flares were fired over Chevella and Vikarabad mandals in Ranga Reddy district, Narayanpet in Mahabubnagar and Chityal and Mallapur in Nalgonda on Saturday.
These operations had their effect with rain in these areas. The intensity even moved to the southern parts of the Capital city including the airport region, officials claimed. In all, 75 hours of flying was carried out for cloud-seeding in 12 districts with over 150 flares being burnt.
This led to over 1,850 mm of rainfall, a development established by data evaluation, supported by chemical analysis reports on rain water samples given by the Rural Water Supply Laboratory in Anantapur.
