KCR sees move to privatise Singareni Collieries

Staff Reporter

Says strength reduced from 1.16 lakh to 76,000

KARIMNAGAR: TRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao pepped up the campaigning for the elections to the recognised trade union of the Singareni Collieries Company limited by conducting road shows in Centenary Colony, Eight Incline Colony and Godavarikhani town of Ramagundam coal belt region on Saturday evening.

Addressing series of meetings in the coal belt region, Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao alleged that the State Government was taking all measures for the privatisation of Singareni Collieries and introducing modern machinery to reduce employment.

He alleged that the Government had reduced the strength of coal workers from 1.16 lakh to 76,000. He appealed the coal miners to cast their vote in favour of Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS) for the protection of Singareni and workers rights.

He launched a scathing attack against the other trade unions, including AITUC and INTUC, for neglecting basic problems of coal workers. He found fault with the trade unions for failing to provide basic facilities in the Singareni hospital and drinking water supply in the miners’ colonies.

He alleged that the existing trade union leaders have turned into ‘piravikaars’. He assured to provide jobs to the dependent children of workers.
