BANGALORE: Prabodh Tirkey will stay as skipper of the Indian hockey squad which will play in the Asia Cup in Chennai from September 1. Announcing the team after the trials at the SAI (South) Centre in Kengeri near here, K.P.S. Gill, President, Indian Hockey Federation (IHF), said he expected a better showing from the team than what it did in Boom (Belgium) and in the Azlan Shah tournament. The coach, Joaquim Carvalho, also expressed his satisfaction with the overall composition of the squad, which he said was a good blend of youth and experience and that the team would play very positively at Chennai. The team: Goalkeepers: Baljit Singh, Adrian D’Souza. Full backs: Dilip Tirkey, William Xalco, V.R. Raghunath, Jaswinder Singh. Half-backs: Gurbaj Singh, Bimal Lakra, Prabodh Tirkey (captain), Ignace Tirkey, Vickram Kanth. Forwards: Prabhjoth Singh, Rajpal Singh, Tushar Khandekar, Roshan Minz, Shivendra Singh, S.V. Suresh.
