India keeps hopes alive

New Delhi: India kept its title hopes alive as Ritu Rani’s lone goal scripted its first win over host Italy in a round-robin match of the three-nation women’s hockey tournament in Bra.

Both the teams were locked 0-0 at half-time, but Rani struck in the 61st minute to avenge India’s defeat to Italy on Friday. In the opening encounter, India had lost to Italy 1-3 and then drew with Russia 2-2. In another game, Italy had beaten Russia 2-0. — PTI
