MTNL phone lines down and out

NEW DELHI: Several MTNL phone lines in the Indraprastha Extension area of East Delhi went on the blink on Saturday causing a great deal of inconvenience all round.

All the MTNL phones in several apartment blocks on Narvana Road in Indraprastha Extension went dead early on Saturday morning. As a result, the residents of Ekta Gardens and Press Apartments, along with many other housing societies, had difficulty communicating throughout the day.

When the residents complained about the fault, the MTNL authorities told them that heavy rains water might have seeped into the cables. The residents were assured that the fault would be rectified urgently. However, till late in the evening the phone lines remained down and the fault had not been set right.
