Sonia visiting South Africa

NEW DELHI: United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi will visit Johannesburg later this month to improve political relations with South Africa, ahead of the IBSA (India,

Brazil and South Africa) summit in October, which will be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Presidents of the other two countries.

South African President Thabo Mbeki, at a meeting with Union Minister of State for Industry Ashwani Kumar, said he was looking forward to discussions with Ms. Gandhi and with Dr. Singh.
