‘Media’s influence on people eroding due to its commercialisation’

MYSORE: Retired judge of Karnataka High Court A.J. Sadashiva has rued the commercialisation of journalism.

Speaking at the Journalists’ Day celebrations organised by Mysore District Journalists’ Association on Sunday, Mr. Sadashiva said the influence the media wielded on the masses had begun to erode on account of its commercialisation. “The press lost its punch and its voice became feeble from the day it was commercialised,” he said.

Minister in-charge of Mysore district G.T. Deve Gowda gave away awards for best photographer and best reporter. Besides, prizes were also given for the winners of the Bharat Kumar memorial essay competition and Rafiq Uppinangadi memorial drawing competition.
