The outdated G.O. 610 needs to be scrapped like the UN resolution on Kashmir (plebiscite) which cannot be accepted by the Indians in the present context. Even Md. Ali Jinnah never harped on Pakistan so publicly as TRS does now for Telangana state. After formation of some linguistic state 50 years back, demanding bifurcation now is anti-national. There could be a point if the erstwhile Nizamites demand a separate nation now. S. Anand Visakhapatnam Kapuluppada unsuitable
We hear the State Government has identified some land at Paradesipalem and Kapuluppada in Visakhapatnam for construction of ‘Swagruha’ flats for Vizagites. While Paradesipalem is suitable for the project, I am afraid Kapuluppada is not. For, a big compost yard of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation existed at Kapuluppada where nearly 700 to 800 tonnes of garbage and other wastes including the carcasses of animals and the dead, and liquids were dumped indiscriminately that pollutes the surrounding areas with foul smell and breeds mosquitoes. I appeal to the authorities concerned to find an alternative to Kapuluppada for the housing programme. K. Satyanarayana Visakhapatnam Scheme not feasible
The proposal of the GVMC to involve the resident welfare associations in sanitation scheme wherein the association has to contribute its monetary share for expenses incurred, is not feasible. My experience is that quite a few of the residents of apartment complexes and colonies are reluctant to pay subscription of any kind and even instigate others not to pay. It has also been difficult to maintain accounts. It would be better if the GVMC collected some sanitation fee directly from the household for sanitation work. G.M. Rama Rao Visakhapatnam Complete the hill-top road
Recently, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy launched the circular rail atop Kailasa Hill which is a big draw. However, the hill top road project from Hanumanthawaka to Simhachalam remains incomplete disappointing Vizagites. A kutcha road was laid on the hill top a few years ago but the project was given up for some inexplicable reason. Since this route will be shortest to Simhachalam temple, I suggest it be laid at the earliest to attract pilgrims and tourists. P.R.C. Roy Visakhapatnam Tirumala rail project
We are delighted to hear the ‘light going rail’ proposal for Tirumala. We had been requesting the TTD and State Government for the project for the last four decades and on our request, the then prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao also advised the TTD to examine the proposal. However, the TTD came up with Rope Way proposal which we had opposed. The present TTD Chairman deserves praise for bringing the rail project proposal to light and entrusting it to RITES for survey. The State Government, without hesitation, should come forward to help the TTD Chairman and see that the project ripens into accomplishment. S.S. Krishnaji Kakinada
