New forum to seek quota for all

Correspondent

Kakinada: A new forum formed under the banner ‘People’s United Front’ has come forward with the demand that the poor among all the upper castes should be provided with the reservations. “Why should they be deprived of the facilities in education and employment that are essential for their development?” asked B V Ramarao, founder president of the front, at a press conference here on Sunday.

He said the front would strive for ending the discrimination in the name of caste and religion and inequalities among people ensuring social justice. Making it clear that the front is not a political party but a forum striving for the people’s rights, Mr. Ramarao released an 18-point charter for which the front is committed that includes fighting for political reforms making all those completing 75 years of age to retire voluntarily from political positions and public offices. He said the front, which has made a humble beginning with 1000 life memberships, would be extended to all the districts soon with the sole objective of having at least one lakh members.

Mr. Ramarao said he would be touring the coastal districts from August 15 taking up the membership drive and finally completing the drive in Telangana and Rayalaseema districts by September end. The grand launching of the Front, he said, would be held on October 2 in Jubilee Hall of the Public Gardens Hyderabad. He said the Chief Justice of High Court had agreed to formally inaugurate the Front. Since, the organisation would be apolitical, he said, it was decided to invite prominent people from the three fields of Media, cinema and industries as the guests of honour.

Mr. Ramarao said eminent personalities including _ N Ram, Ch Ramojirao, Girish Sanghvi and Venkatramireddy from media, Akkineni Nageswerarao, Chiranjivi and Rama Naidu from cine field, M.Harischandra Prasad, were being invited as special guests.
