DAVANGERE: President of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sadananda Gowda on Sunday criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for reportedly giving a call to political parties to be ready for elections and said that it was unbecoming of a Prime Minister to create a political confusion in the State. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that even Congress leaders were not in favour of mid-term elections. When such was the situation, no one knew what prompted the Prime Minister make such a statement. Transfer of power
The coalition Government led by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had been performing well. But performance should not come in the way of transferring power to the BJP, Mr. Sadananda Gowda said. Unfortunately, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediurappa’s recent visit to Delhi had been attributed to some political developments. Importance
There was no need to give much importance to the visit, he said. Mr. Sadananda Gowda said that performance and transfer of power to the BJP were two different issues and they should not be mixed. He exuded confidence that Mr. Kumaraswamy would stick to his word of transferring power. Opposition
Some Janata Dal (Secular) leaders, including those who had opposed transfer of power to the BJP, had promised on the floor of the House that the Janata Dal (Secular) would transfer power to the BJP after completion of 20 months, he added. Processions
When his attention was drawn to processions taken out by Veerashivas in Nanjangud and other places demanding that the Janata Dal (S) transfer power to the BJP, he said that it was the right of any member of this society or any organisation to take out a procession or stage a dharna. However, he ruled out that such agitations and processions were not orchestrated by the BJP.
