Churches call for united fight

Thiruvananthapuram: Asserting that minority rights were under threat, especially in the educational sector, under the Left Democratic Front Government, led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Kerala, a joint pastoral letter by Church heads on Sunday called for a “united fight” against the Government.

The letter, read out in various churches in the State, asked the faithful to come out in large numbers to participate in a minority rights protection convention in Kottayam on August 12. The letter follows a series of such calls made by Churches in the last one month.

The Churches noted that they were facing challenges not only in the education sector but also in the health-care sector managed by them.
