Bird flu: Tripura, Mizoram tighten vigil
Gargi Parsai
NEW DELHI: Even as the Tripura and Mizoram Governments tightened vigil along their borders after “unusual mortality” in poultry population last week, the Union Department of Animal Husbandry said over 3.40 lakh poultry birds were culled in Manipur.
Though the culling operation was over, more stamping out of birds was done during the clean-up and disinfection operations through the municipal areas. The Central Rapid Response Teams were closely combing the 5-km radius around Chinmeirong village near Imphal. The Tripura Government is reported to have asked the Border Security Force to seal the border with Bangladesh to prevent the movement of poultry.
