Andhra Pradesh
When CAS (Conditional Access System) was extended to cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata by 2008, the Information and Broadcasting Minister told Parliament that extension is to cover cities with more than one lakh population. Then why was Hyderabad city ignored? Once the city is covered under CAS, the hide and seek game of the cablewallahs will end as in the system, the prime concern is up-linking from abroad. It will have channels that inform and educate the masses for which the medium is aimed at. Today the city has a plethora of desi news channels which recycle news 24x7, often trivialising and sensationalising news through repetition. It is strange that the monopoly exerted by the cable networks like Hathway has no news channels like BBC or CNN, available in other cities like Bangalore and Chennai. Hope with CAS this will end. Why such restrictions. Is it at the behest of the channel barons? Raghu Ram, AC Guards New bus service
At present the residents of Shakti Nagar and many nearby colonies are finding it difficult to go to Lal Bazar (Trimulgerry), Old Alwal, Bolarum etc, because there is no bus service to Lal Bazar. I request the APSRTC authorities to introduce a new bus service to cover the following colonies: 24AL-proposed bus stops- ECIL to Secunderabad to follow present 24 bus route up to Defence Colony. Then via Bharani Colony, Vivekanandapuram, Ammuguda Railway Station, Shakti Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Asha Officers Colony, Roberts Road (CSD X Roads), Trimulgherry Telephone Exchange and Post Office, Lal Bazar, Karkhana, Secunderabad (present 24 bust route from Lal Bazar onwards). As this service will be very helpful and will not result in financial loss to the RTC, I request the authorities to introduce ‘24AL’ bus service. K. Padmanabhan, R.K. Puram Upgrade railway station
Hi-Tec railway station is located near Cyberabad on the western part of the city, near to several IT parks and townships, colonies, JNTU, KPHB Colony etc, which are thickly populated.Keeping in view this high density population areas, it may be appropriate to upgrade the Hi-Tec railway station to a super ‘A’ grade station with international facilities. It is also suggested that Hafeezpet railway station also be upgraded for the purpose of having a ‘terminus’ point. If this proposal materialises there would be greater impact on the present traffic congestion on around Begumpet, Punjagutta and Ameerpet. It will also help air passengers reach Shamshabad airport faster. Ramabhadra Rao , Kukatpally
