Minister firm on removing hardships for registration staff

Government to ensure employees do not suffer

Modalities to be worked out for a corpus fund

HYDERABAD: Registration and Stamps Minister J. Ratnakar Rao has assured the employees of the department that the Government would take all measures to ensure that they are not harrassed.

Responding to a spate of complaints over the ‘mental torture’ of the staff by ACB, he said while the ACB, Vigilance and other departments would have to discharge their duties, the Government would ensure that innocents did not suffer. He was participating as chief guest at the general body meeting of the Sub-Registrars’ Association and Registration and Stamps Department Employees’ Association.

Stating that he would examine the report submitted by the group of Ministers on the problems of the employees, he said he would take up the matter with Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for evolving a consensus. Efforts were underway for constructing buildings to house the Registrar and Sub-Registrar offices across the State while a proposal for bringing all the offices in the State capital under one roof was being considered.

Corpus fund

Mr. Ratnakar Rao, who is also heading the Endowments Department, said he would work out modalities for setting up a corpus fund that could be used for the welfare of the employees in meeting their requirements like children’s education and marriages. Assuring that he would shortly convene a meeting of the employees to understand their problems, he wanted the staff to bring to his notice problems, if any.

Registration and Stamps Inspector-General S.K. Sinha said he would shortly issue a circular comprising the dos and don’ts for the staff to ensure that the leakages in the department were plugged.

Efforts would be initiated to remove the cumbersome processes involved in registration of documents in addition to introduction of web based service for reducing burden on the employees.

Leaders of Andhra Pradesh NGOs Association and Telangana NGOs Association attended the meeting.
