Programme on conservation

Udhagamandalam: A programme to enhance awareness among the students about conservation was organised at the Green Valley Higher Secondary School in Kotagiri recently by the Kotagiri Wildlife Association (KWA). In his address, the president, KWA, K. Raju, underscored the need to inculcate in the students a love for the environment. He pointed out that if environmental degradation was not checked now the consequences would be catastrophic. The past president KWA, N. Ramakrishnan said that protection of biodiversity was the need of the hour. He urged the students to play a proactive role in conserving natural resources. A balance should be struck between conservation and development. Principal Nagaraj also spoke. The screening of a documentary on ‘Honey Hunters of The Nilgiris’ made by the Keystone Foundation marked the occasion.
