Tamil Nadu
Those who travel by mofussil buses in Tamil Nadu know that cinemas will be played in the vehicles. Worse, is the audio volume which is kept at a decibel level far above the permissible limit. If one were to travel at night, the journey will be far from being calm and peaceful. The plight of people using town bus services is no better. Film songs are played in full blast. I only wish the authorities concerned look into the matter with the seriousness and issue proper instructions to the crew. Vengarai S. Raman, Thanjavur. Soiled notes
Residents of Kumbakonam town find it difficult to exchange the soiled notes in the denomination of Rs.10, Rs.20 and Rs.50. The nationalised banks refuse to exchange these notes and direct the public to go to the State Bank of India, which till a couple of months ago used to exchange the notes on Wednesdays of every week. Of late, the State Bank of India is also refusing to exchange the soiled notes. I request the bank authorities to do the needful in this regard. J. Kalyanasundaram, Kumbakonam. Four-laning work
It is heartening to note that the four-laning of the Tiruchi-Thanjavur section of the National Highway 67 will be completed by October next. I request the NHAI authorities to take steps for the completing the four-laning of the Tiruchi-Madurai, Tiruchi-Tindivanam sections of the National Highways in time. Suhail Ahamed Bijli, Thanjavur. Narrow platform
Sometimes the Mayiladuthurai-Mysore Express and the Kumbakonam-Chennai Rockfort Express trains are allowed on platform number three at Thanjavur junction. Platform number three is narrow and could not accommodate heavy crowd. I request the Railway authorities to always allow the above trains either into platform number 4 or 5, which are spacious. Mohamed Ali, Thanjavur. Rush at EB office
Long back computers have been supplied to the EB collection centre at Chetti Mandapam. But, they are to be installed. Consumers are made to wait in long queues to pay their electricity dues. No additional counters have been provided to clear the rush. I request the authorities to alleviate this hardship to consumers. K. Santhanam, Kumbakonam.
