Introspect on development, Chief Minister tells TDP

‘Investments attracted from various quarters’
‘Jobs provided to unemployed youth of all sections’

NAIDUPET (NELLORE): Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked both activists and leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to introspect whether the main Opposition party could have taken up the same kind of welfare-oriented programmes being implemented by the ruling Congress, had the TDP been elected to power in 2004 elections.

“The kind of programmes such as Jalayagnam, Indiramma, Indira Prabha, Indira Kranti Pathakam, land distribution, old age pensions and several others being taken up in the last three years speak of the ruling Congress’ commitment to the overall development of State on all fronts,” claimed the Chief Minister at a public meeting here on Monday.

Foundation laid

Addressing a huge gathering after inaugurating Ambedkar Bhavan and police quarters besides laying foundation stone for residential school building as well as for the works sanctioned under Rajiv Pallebata with an estimated cost of Rs 2.80 crore at Naidupet, Dr. Reddy said that the Government had been able to attract investments from various quarters on the industrial front too.

Thus the ruling Congress had been able to provide jobs to unemployed youth besides serving all sections of the society, he said.

Earlier Dr. Reddy took part in ‘Vana Mahotsavam’ programme at Quba Engineering College at Venkatachalam. Union Ministers T. Subbarami Reddy, Panabaka Lakshmiand others including MLAs and senior officials accompanied the Chief Minister.
