Plea for regular supply of cement

BANGALORE: Members of the Builders’ Association of India have threatened to stop work if the State Government does not ensure regular supply of cement.

According to a statement issued by association chairman A. Chamaraja Reddy, the price of cement, which has been on the rise, should be fixed at Rs. 170 a bag as opposed to the current level of Rs. 300. “If the contractors stop work, it will affect over 20 lakh families of construction workers apart from others in the supply sector.” Builders and contractors have been put to hardship because of the unusual cement scarcity and price rise, according to the statement. — Staff Reporter
