Sangareddy: Representatives of all political parties except the Congress on Monday obstructed work at the Sub Registrar Office here and demanded District Registrar Prasada Rao to register Manjeera river on their names. They were protesting against registering patta lands at Dharmasagar, near the proposed IIT, to others. Leaders of the Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Rastra Samithi, Bharatiya Janata Party, Communist Party of India (M) and CPI prepared a document on a stamp paper, affixed photographs, claiming purchase of the Manjeera and urged Mr. Rao to register it. However the registrar refused to recognise the document and rejected it. Criticising the registrar for stating that registration is only recognition to a valid transaction, Narahari Reddy of TRS wanted the Registration Office to register the Manjeera as there is a buyer willing to buy and he is ready to sell. B. Mallesham of CPI(M) demanded cancellation of registration of Dharmasagar lands and to restore the patta lands to its rightful owners. The protestors organised a dharna in front of the Registrar’s Office alleging the involvement of a local legislator and the Revenue staff in the sale of patta land. The registrar later clarified that the Tahasildar in a letter in the month of April clarified that the Bila Dakhla (without survey number) lands of Dharmasagar near Kandi could be registered.
