Hartal: legal notice to Chennithala

Kochi: The Kerala Anti-Hartal Campaign Committee on Monday sent a legal notice to Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala to show-cause why appropriate legal action should not be taken against him for calling a hartal on August 4 in Ernakulum district.
The legal notice sent through the High Court lawyer Sivan Madathil said the call for hartal, which had become a total bandh in the district, was not justifiable. It was a blatant violation of the Constitutional safeguards given to every citizen. The call of hartal given by the KPCC president was in violation of the High Court and Supreme Court decisions.
