Whither justice?

A terrorist is one who kills innocent civilians. So aren’t those responsible for the Mumbai riots of 1992 terrorists and shouldn’t they too face the law? Why are the Hindu mobs and police officers who were named and indicted by the Justice Srikrishna Commission still free? Justice cannot be done to the victims of the riots unless the rioters are given exemplary sentences irrespective of whether they are politicians or policemen.

Deepak Joshi,
Mumbai

We should remind ourselves that the Babri Masjid demolition was followed by unprecedented riots in Mumbai. These were followed by the serial blasts of 1993 for which 100 people, including women, have been convicted and justice has finally been declared done. But why has nothing been done to bring to book those responsible for the riots and the Babri Masjid demolition?

Ziauddin Ahmad,
Aligarh
