Purushotham Reddy for withdrawal of GO 34
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: V. Purushotham Reddy, chairman, Telangana Planning and Development Board, has suggested to the State Government to withdraw the GO No. 34 that made it mandatory for lift irrigation schemes to implement micro irrigation.
The withdrawal of the order would set at rest apprehensions of farmers that it would lead to injustice in distribution of water to Telangana where the schemes were large in number, Mr. Reddy stated in a letter to the Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah. He said the order appeared to be biased against the farmers of Telangana.
In a separate letter to Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, Mr. Reddy sought details of lands sold by the Government in Telangana and the procedure followed for the same. He wanted the information since the High Court had said that the special revenue laws of Telangana prohibited sale of land without following legal procedure.
Moreover, the court had also asked the Government to furnish details of lands allotted and sold to private companies in a different case.
