Minister pulls up contractor supplying eggs to anganwadis

CHENNAI: A contractor supplying eggs to anganwadis in Tiruvallur district came in for severe censure by the Social Welfare Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna for providing substandard products.
Quality standards
During an inspection conducted by Dr. Poongothai on Monday, it was found that Ms.Vasu Farms was supplying “bullet eggs” (very small) that did not clear the quality standards.
Colour codes
The Tiruvallur-based poultry farmer was also not affixing the appropriate colour codes on the eggs.
The Social Welfare Minister communicated this to the district Collector of Tiruvallur and urged him to take action on the violator.
“Strict action”
Further, she said strict action would be taken on anyone found to be supplying poor quality eggs, according to an official press release.
