Jai Bhagwan advances

NEW DELHI: Lightweight pugilist Jai Bhagwan cruised into the semifinals, beating Russia’s Vladimir Saruhanian in a nail-biting finish, in the Xinjiang international boxing tournament in China on Monday.

Bhagwan showed immense control to down the powerful Russian 37-30, and assured himself of a medal.

However, India’s Jitender Kumar (51kg) and Diwakar Prasad (57kg) lost in the first round.
