KADAPA: Brahmins should be granted reservations and poor Brahmins in Kadapa district should be allotted house sites and houses, Kadapa District Brahmana Sangham president B. Sudarshana Sarma has demanded. Addressing the Sangh’s 12th anniversary celebrations at Ammavarisala in Railway Kodur, he demanded enhancement of monthly salary of temple priests from Rs. 400 to Rs. 3,000. The sangham would organise dharnas before the Collectorate and all tahsildar offices in the district this month demanding house sites and pucca houses. Nearly 80 per cent of the 1.50 crore Brahmin population in the State were poor and hence reservations should be granted, A.P. Brahmana Sangham vice-president Ramamohana Rao demanded. Sangham would stage a demonstration at Hyderabad soon, he said. The State Government should renovate dilapidated temples, demanded Sangham’s Kadapa unit secretary Ramanaiah. He demanded protection to temple properties and lands to prevent their encroachment. A.P. Mineral Development Corporation General Manager Nagaraju, poet and artist Mynampati Venkata Subrahmanyam, District Purohits Sangham member B. Venkatanarasaiah, Brahmana Yuvajana Sangham president Mallikarjuna Sarma and Kiran Kumar, Railway Kodur unit president Manisarma and secretary M. Subrahmanyam also participated.
