Belgaum: A group of miscreants attacked the office of BJP MP Suresh C. Angadi, opposite his residence on Sampige Road, Visvesvaraya Nagar, in Belgaum on Tuesday. At about 7 p.m., the miscreants splashed black paint on his name plate, stoned the office and destroyed a few window panes. The APMC police rushed to the spot and registered an FIR. Later, Mr. Angadi told The Hindu that he could not identify the miscreants as the attack took place while he was at the railway station to board a train to Bangalore. He said that his family members had been out on a visit to a temple. Mr. Angadi said that he rushed back after being informed about the attack. Reason
Rumours are afloat that Mr. Angadi had supported two BJP members who had joined hands with the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi (MES), with the objective of seeking votes of Marathi-speaking people to win the next Lok Sabha election. This incident comes soon after the announcement of the results of the election to the Belgaum Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee wherein the BJP and the MES had partnered to win the posts of vice-president and president respectively.
