Three of a family killed in accident

Kasaragod: Three members of a family – two women and a girl – were killed and four were injured when the car they were travelling in overturned after hitting a culvert wall at Panchikkal, 50 km from here, on Monday evening, the police said.

The car was coming from Karnataka’s Sullya town. Nafeesa, 83, mother of Kasaragod block panchayat member Kattakkal Shafi, died on the spot. Beefathima, 60, and Shaimath, 6, who were taken to a Mangalore hospital succumbed to their injuries there.

The injuredwere under treatment at a private hospital in Mangalore. — PTI
