‘Gruhapravesam’ of Indiramma houses

HYDERABAD: The State will witness mass “gruhapravesam” from Gandhi Jayanti to Vijayadasami when the beneficiaries will formally enter 15 lakh houses built under Indiramma, the massive housing programme taken up by the Congress Government.

These dwellings are among the 19 lakh houses taken up under Phase I of Indiramma, covering the houseless in a third of the State.

An Indiramma plaque with a tricolour band will be installed atop each house and a logo on the main door of each dwelling that is ready for the house-warming ceremony named “Indiramma Gruhapravesam”.

The Chief Minister announced this at a press conference after launching www.housing.ap.gov.in containing the details of all the 19 lakh beneficiaries of the Phase I here on Tuesday night, Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy said “I am proud of this programme as we have fulfilled a major election promise”.

He asked political parties, especially Telugu Desam, to verify whether this kind of programme was implemented in any State.

Second phase

The Chief Minister said the second phase, covering another third of the State, would be launched shortly with distribution of sanction letters to the beneficiaries from September 20 to 26. The website for this phase displaying even photos of the beneficiaries would be launched on October 2.
