Vikas Yadav challenges key witness

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Nitish Katara murder case prime accused Vikas Yadav on Tuesday sought to challenge the sequence of events as stated by a key witness in the case, Ajay Katara. Ajay had told the court that he had seen Nitish with Vikas, his cousin and co-accused Vishal Yadav and the third accused Sukhdev Pehalwan in a Tata Safari car before he went missing.

During hearing in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur, Vikas through his counsel submitted a list of nine witnesses who he said should be examined to prove that he was not with the victim on the night of February 16, 2002.

Claiming that he could not reveal the names of the witnesses as that might prove dangerous for them, counsel submitted the list in a sealed envelope. However, the Judge returned the list and asked him to bring all the witnesses on Wednesday for examination. Ajay had also complained that the accused were trying to eliminate him. He had been admitted to a hospital after complaining of food poisoning some time ago.
