Lifetime Achievement Award for Ustad Dagar

Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar

NEW DELHI: Sahitya Kala Parishad will confer “Lifetime Achievement Award” on Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar for his outstanding contribution in the field of classical music. The decision was taken by the Delhi Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Making the announcement, Ms. Dikshit described Ustad Fahimuddin Khan Dagar as one of the greatest living musician of our country and a doyen of the Dhrupad style of singing and the senior most member of the Dagar family which has been dedicated to the cause of Dhrupad music for over 20 generations. Born in Alwar in 1927, Ustad Fahimuddin Dagar is the only living son of illustrious musician and Padma Bhushan recipient Ustad Allabande Rahimmudin Khan Dagar. He has earlier been honoured with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1993-94), Sahitya Kala Parishad Award (1996), Indira Gandhi Fellowship (1997), Kali Das Award (2002) and Rajasthan Sangeet Natak Academy Award (2003).
