Maoists terrorising petty traders: DSP
Staff Reporter
A group of Maoists had come along with a few Girijans and threatened the businessman
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Deputy Superintendent of Police at Chintapalli, Sriram Naik, alleged that Maoists in the guise of dacoits extorted money from Eswar Rao, a provision storeowner at Obulam village in G.K. Veedhi mandal at gunpoint on Monday night.
A group of Maoists had come along with a few Girijans and threatened the businessman in front of his wife and children by brandishing pistols, he said, and noted that the Maoists, of late, have been targeting small businessmen. Eswar Rao was neither a big businessman nor a landlord, and the Maoists have been forcing innocent tribals to join their cadre under force, he stated.
The DSP also said that since the ban on the outfit has been extended, action would be taken against its sympathisers also.
