SBI vies to be more customer-friendly

Staff Reporter

‘Project Parivartan’ launched

Kozhikode: Srinivasaraghavan, Regional Manager, State Bank of India (SBI), inaugurated ‘Project Parivartan,’ a massive exercise in internal communication launched by the Bank across the country targeting its 1,40,000-odd employees, at Kozhikode on August 2.

Changing with the times

Inaugurating the project, Mr. Srinivasaraghavan said that the exercise aimed at transforming attitudes and approaches to suit the requirements of changing business environment. The programme, a brainchild of O.P. Bhatt, chairman of SBI, is meant to make every employee aware of the changing needs of customers and also to help them develop a more customer-centric approach.

He said that after the significant strides the bank took in the areas of technology in the last couple of years, SBI now aims at a transformation in HR area to make it a more customer-friendly outfit. The programme focuses on the fact that in an industry where almost every bank has the best of technology and products, the only thing that makes a difference is the customer experience.

Workshops planned

As part of this exercise, two-day workshops are planned at over 100 venues across the country. Nearly 100 such programmes are proposed to be held in SBI’s Kerala Circle covering nearly 4,000 employees. The ‘Parivartan Programme’ was launched on July 16 and all the employees identified would be trained within a maximum period of three months.

SBI’s Kerala Circle had during the fourth quarter of last financial year launched, with the concerted efforts of its work force, a massive business mobilisation drive named ‘Win Kerala Campaign’ when business totalling Rs. 1,900 crore was mobilised.
