NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked a senior superintendent of a post office here on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The CBI sleuths carried out searches at the residence and office of the accused, Dev Anand.

During the operation, they purportedly found Rs.75,000 in cash, documents pertaining to expenditure of about Rs.19 lakh on the education of his children, insurance policies worth Rs.11 lakh, papers pertaining to two plots of land at Wazirabad and Karawal Nagar, “benami” investments in monthly income schemes, Kisan Vikas Patras worth Rs.31 lakh and investment of Rs.3 lakh in the Public Provident Fund.

According to the CBI, the accused possessed assets worth about Rs.33.95 lakh.
