Cash prize for boat race winners hiked

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Home and Tourism Kodiyeri Balakarishnan has issued orders enhancing the cash prizes for the annual Nehru Trophy boat race at Alappuzha. Accordingly, Rs. 2 lakh would be awarded to the first prize winner and Rs. 1.50 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 respectively to teams finishing second, third and fourth. —Special Correspondent
