Two children run over by train

PARAPPANANGADI: Two schoolchildren were run over by a speeding train at Cheramangalam near here on Wednesday.

Burhanuddeen, 12, son of Raheem of Nechikadan House, Chiramangalam and Safeer, 12, son of Rafeeque of Chengadan House, Attathangadi were run over by the Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity Express at 10.45 a.m.

The Police said the children were crossing the tracks when the accident occurred.

They apparently failed to notice the approaching train. The children were students of the Cheramangalam UP School. They were buried at the Cheramangalam Juma Masjid graveyard after a post-mortem at the Tirurangadi Taluk Hospital.
