NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has laid the foundation stone of Chaudhary Brahm Perkash Delhi Rajkiya Charak Ayurvedic Sansthaan at Khera Dabar near Najafgarh . The new institute would be developed on the lines of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences. The objective behind setting up the institute is to promote use of Ayurveda as a good alternative to modern medicine, develop use of modern techniques for the teaching of Ayurveda, promote research and development of Ayurveda, evolve pharmaceutical standards and bring Ayurvedic formulation to internationally accepted standards. The Sansthaan would be developed as a premier institute for teaching of Ayurveda with attached facilities on a 95-acre campus. It will have an annual intake capacity of 80 students at the undergraduate level and 30 at the postgraduate level. There will also be provision for state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, modern tools of study such as video-conferencing, four types of herbal gardens, treatment through campus grown herbs and residential facilities for students, doctors and nursing staff. The medical college will become functional from the next academic year.
