KOCHI: Youth Congress State president T. Siddique has said that Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan should resign owning moral responsibility for the serious differences of opinion that exist between him and his Cabinet colleagues. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Siddique said that at least two Ministers had expressed their differences of opinion with the Chief Minister. And the Chief Minister too had reacted against one of them. He demanded that an inquiry be instituted into the controversial deals of a person who had allegedly donated huge sums to the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He said the CPI(M) had condemned the United Democratic Front’s plan to organise an hartal against the State Government’s inability to tackle viral fever, but its trade union wing, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, had organised a strike on Wednesday over another issue. This amounted to double standard, he said. The Youth Congress will organise Quit India rally at 14 constituencies in Ernakulam district on August 9. The State-level programme would be inaugurated at Aluva on Thursday evening.
